Our bodies change throughout life: cells die and recover. But every decade, their condition gets worse. After 30 years, a person begins to lose 1-2% of muscle mass per year, even if he leads an active lifestyle. All body tissues are damaged, so signs of aging appear on the skin. We call it aging and we know that it cannot be stopped.
External signs of aging appear around the age of 25
Why signs of aging are visible on the skin:
- reduced fat layer;
- reduced bone mass;
- connective tissue is destroyed.
Metabolism slows down in connective tissue. The building blocks of our body are produced less and less: proteins (collagen and elastin) and polysaccharides (glycosaminoglycans). Roughly speaking, the aging process lies in the gradual loss of these components. What we can do? Try to slow down aging. Often it even improves the condition of the skin, rejuvenating it with the help of competent care.
How do essential oils for the face work against wrinkles?
In plants, essential oils participate in metabolic processes. The main components of esters - terpenoids and aromatic compounds - are very quickly and actively involved in various chemical reactions in cells. Active chemical reactions also occur when ether comes into contact with human skin. Phenols, aldehydes, organic acids and alcohols in ether cause skin irritation, and blood flows faster to the site of contact with them. Thanks to this effect, compresses and applications with oil work. The higher the oil concentration and the longer the exposure, the more active the skin reaction will be.
Essential oils do not contain vitamins. Vitamins are stored either in water or fat, there is no fat or water in esters.
Using facial oil for wrinkles
When we need to address fine lines and wrinkles, the options seem endless. Should you choose a lightweight anti-aging cream or moisturizer? What about a vitamin C serum or acid gel?
Essential oils can't get rid of wrinkles, but they can help minimize them.
They can also:
- accelerate collagen production
- improve skin tone
- evens out skin tone
- reduces inflammation
- increases epithelial cell turnover
- Protect your skin from the environment
Which facial oil is better to choose for wrinkles than cream?
One of the most valuable components of skin oil is lipids (fats). They glue the horn cells (scales) together, creating a protective layer that retains moisture. Also protects against the penetration of harmful microorganisms.
By applying it to the skin in its pure form, we seem to strengthen this barrier, and the skin becomes saturated with moisture.
But the problem is that none of the vegetable oils contain a suitable lipid ratio for our dermis. When applied to the face, we immediately feel hydrated and comfortable because it smoothes and softens horny scales. It also creates a film that retains moisture on the surface.
If we continue to apply it regularly, it will start to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin and erode our own lipids. Their ratio will begin to change, which will lead to the breakdown of the lipid barrier. The skin will become drier and scaly.
Therefore, to strengthen the lipid layer, it is more beneficial to consume fats internally.
But there is also good news. Thanks to their moisturizing and softening properties, vegetable fats are very suitable for treating wrinkles, if you approach them wisely.
When combined with other components, these ingredients have a beneficial effect on the skin and smooth out fine wrinkles. Therefore, it is even recommended for use in various mask recipes.
But so that the skin does not get used to it, the recipe needs to be constantly changed. But further below, for the reasons mentioned above, it is not recommended to use it regularly in its pure form, so replacing it with a daily treatment instead of a cream will not work, as it can cause serious damage.
For wrinkles, for the purpose of additional moisturizing and softening, it is used in pure form only in an emergency for 1-2 weeks. This must be done observing the following rules:
- Before applying, the face must be wet;
- number of drops according to skin type: dry 3-4 drops, normal 2-3, oily 1-2;
- after 15-20 minutes, wipe the cover with a napkin, thereby removing excess;
- after use, be sure to apply moisturizer;
- Apply the oil to the area around the eyes two hours before bed to avoid severe swelling.
An effective and safe option for using anti-wrinkle oil is to add a few drops to various masks, the recipes for which are given below. Combined with other components for 20-30 minutes, the composition will only bring benefits, provided it is chosen correctly (more on that later).
Anti-aging can be done 2-3 times a week. Meanwhile, so that the skin does not get used to it, it is recommended to change the composition of the mask once a month.
